Oracle Hates You (Introduction)
Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 2:00PM In my job I have to deal with many different databases on a frequent basis. While all databases have their own peculiarities, none seem to go out of their way to be a pain to work with more than Oracle.
It should be noted that I consider Oracle to be an excellent database. It's fast, stable, secure and highly configurable. My complaints about Oracle have less to do with the database than the tools Oracle provides to install, configure and use the database.
Many of the issues I have with these tools seem to indicate that Oracle simply doesn't care about the user experience presented to database administrators. The Oracle Hates You line of postings will detail the many issues I've encountered that have led me to believe this.
One final note. I have only worked with Oracle on Windows. The issues I list may or may not exist on other platforms.
